Fishtype Terms of Use
These terms apply to your use of the Fishtype app ("the app"), provided by MTP Works ("we", "us"). By using the app, you agree to these terms.
1. The app
Fishtype lets you place a fish name, set in type, on a photo of your catch, and save or share the result. The app can suggest the fish name with AI (see section 4).
2. Your photos
- Your photos and finished images are yours. We do not claim any rights to them
- A photo is sent for AI identification only when you agree to it. It is used only to identify the fish and is not stored on our server (see the Privacy Policy)
- Only use photos you have the right to use, and respect the privacy of other people in your photos when you share them
3. Fishtype Pro
- Plans: Fishtype Pro is offered as a yearly subscription that renews automatically, and a 1-week pass that lasts 7 days and does not renew. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may differ by country
- Benefits: no watermark, all templates and filters, no ads, and fish identification of up to 30 photos a day with a more accurate AI
- Payment and renewal: payment is charged to your Apple Account or Google Play account. The yearly plan renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription
- Refunds: refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. After a refund, Fishtype Pro ends
- One purchase, your devices: a purchase can be used on up to 5 of your devices signed in to the same store account. Use "Restore purchases" in the app to use it on another device
- We may change or add Pro features. If a change significantly reduces what you paid for, we will tell you in the app in advance
4. AI identification
- Free users can identify 3 photos. After that, watching a short video ad adds one more identification. Ads may not always be available
- Each photo is identified once; changing the template, filter or position does not use another identification
- AI results can be wrong. Do not rely on them for decisions about fishing rules, catch limits, protected species or whether a fish is safe to eat. Please check those yourself
- We may limit or pause identification (for example, when the service is busy) to keep it running for everyone
5. What you must not do
- Use the app or our server in a way that breaks the law or harms others
- Get around the identification limits, ads or purchase checks, or send automated requests to our server
- Reverse engineer the app to misuse our server, or try to access data that is not yours
- Resell or redistribute the app
6. Disclaimer and liability
- The app is provided as it is. We do our best to keep it working, but we do not guarantee that it is free of errors or always available
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from your use of the app, except where caused by our intent or gross negligence. Where the law does not allow this limitation (including under Japan's Consumer Contract Act), it applies only as far as the law allows
7. Changes
We may update these terms. We will post the new terms on this page, and tell you in the app if a change is significant. If you keep using the app after the change, you agree to the new terms.
8. App Store and Google Play
If you downloaded the app from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or its support. If these terms and the store's terms conflict, the store's terms prevail as far as they concern the store.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Disputes about the app will be settled in the court with jurisdiction over our location as the court of first instance.
